The BBC has announced The Detection Club, a brand-new 1930s crime drama.

The new show brings together three of the most iconic writers of the golden age of detective fiction – Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers and G.K. Chesterton.

In this 10-part series, the trio form a mysterious society in London, meeting in secret to discuss crime and storytelling.

But when they are drawn into a real-life murder case, they must turn their literary brilliance into practical detective work.

Set against the backdrop of 1930s London, the series follows their adventures as they attempt to solve murders with all the wit and deduction of their novels, much to the frustration of D.I. Greenway, a rookie detective who finds himself constantly one step behind them.

Produced by BBC Studios Drama Productions, the series will be filmed in 2026 and sold internationally.

The Detection Club will debut on BBC iPlayer and BBC Daytime.
