Here’s some welcome news for fans of British crime dramas: detective series Patience has been officially renewed for a third season by Channel 4.
Ella Maisy Purvis will return as Patience, the autistic criminal records archivist who now calls City of York Police home.
The upcoming season will span an extended run of ten episodes, and Patience’s sharp investigative work will be joined by major personal developments.
She’ll embark on a new romantic journey and dig deeper into her own family history, especially her father’s mysterious car crash.
Jessica Hynes is back as DI Frankie Monroe, who’s moved from initial clashes with Patience to a close working partnership and friendship.
Nathan Welsh, Mark Benton, Adrian Rawlins, Tom Lewis, Ali Ariaie, and Liza Sadovy also return to round out the cast.
The show, produced by Eagle Eye Drama, became Channel 4’s biggest hit of the year with its second season.
Channel 4’s Polly Scates shared, “We’re delighted to welcome Patience back to Channel 4 for its third series. The show has really captured the hearts of our viewers, and there’s genuine excitement to see where Patience’s investigations take us next in the City of York.”
Jo McGrath from Eagle Eye Drama added, “Audiences across the world have taken Patience to their hearts and it’s wonderful to see the series performing so strongly in the UK, becoming the 8th most streamed show across all platforms midway through its run.”
Filming kicks off this March in Belgium and York, so fans won’t have too long to wait for more.
