Move over Bake Off and Sewing Bee, there’s a brand new wholesome competition series coming to British TV.

The BBC has announced a brand new series, Race Against the Tide, with Iain Stirling set to host.

Filming on a stunning Scottish beach, the show will see eight teams of talented sand sculptors face off in a battle of skill, creativity and endurance.

The tide is their toughest rival as each team has only six hours to complete their masterpieces before the sea rolls back in and wipes everything away.

Adapted from the hit Canadian format by Blue Ant Studios, this six-part series marks the first UK version of Race Against the Tide.

As the tide recedes, Iain Stirling will guide the teams through daily challenges, offering commentary and comic relief as the clock ticks down.

When the waves start to return, Stirling will raise the red flag to signal the end of building and the start of judging.

Artist Sadie Clayton and sand sculptor Jamie Wardley will cast a keen eye over the sand works, choosing a winning sculpture before it is swept away by the tide.

Only one team will make it to the end of the week to be crowned the ultimate Race Against the Tide champion.

Iain Stirling said: “Normally, when I’m asked to get beach-ready, it’s for a very different kind of show! But this one is unlike anything I’ve seen before, and filming in Scotland makes it even more special (and will make attending Hibs games much easier).”

The series will air on BBC Two and iPlayer in the UK.
