Netflix’s hit spy thriller Black Doves is officially rolling on Season 2, and the cast just got even more exciting.
Cameras are back up in London as the series welcomes a mix of returning favorites and impressive new faces.
Season 2 brings in Ambika Mod, fresh off One Day, cast as Laila, a sharp and unpredictable Black Doves agent sent to back up Keira Knightley’s Helen on her next mission.
Babou Ceesay, recently seen in Alien: Earth, steps in as Mr Conteh, adding intrigue as a potentially scheming Black Doves executive.
Sam Riley, from Firebrand, will play Patrick, a mysterious outsider with a possible lifeline for Ben Whishaw’s Sam.
Rounding out the new additions is Neve Campbell, the legendary Scream star, who joins as Cecile Mason.
Other fresh faces for the new season include Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049) as Katia Chernov, Goran Kostic (Canary Black, Ant-Man and The Wasp) as Alexi Chernov, and Samuel Barnett (Lee) as Jerry.
The core cast remains intact – Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire return, joined again by Andrew Buchan, Kathryn Hunter, Ella Lily Hyland, Gabrielle Creevy, Agnes O’Casey and Molly Chesworth.
Season 2 picks up with Helen (Knightley) still caught between betraying her country and spying for the Black Doves, just as her husband Wallace (Andrew Buchan) is on the brink of becoming Prime Minister.
While Sarah Lancashire’s Mrs Reed faces a plot against her position within the organization, Helen reconnects with Sam (Whishaw), now down on his luck and running low-level jobs. The pair stumble through a world where loyalty is dangerous, trust is scarce, and every action might carry catastrophic costs.
Creator and executive producer Joe Barton said: “I couldn’t be more excited to delve back into the world of our murderous little spy family. To have so many of our amazing cast returning and also being able to add some of my absolute favourite actors into the mix is such a great joy. Downing Street will never be the same again…”
A release date is to be announced.
