Our beloved midwives are back this December as Call The Midwife returns with a Christmas double feature.

Poplar is getting festive in part one, but Fred and Violet have bigger plans – they’re preparing to visit her son in Hong Kong.

Things shift quickly from holiday cheer to high-stakes drama when they arrive to find the Branch House in Kowloon has collapsed, sparking a rescue mission that sees the Nonnatus House crew heading overseas.

Meanwhile, drama unfolds back in Poplar as Cyril receives a mysterious housing request from Mr Fischer, who is willing to pay any price for a place to stay.

In part two, things take a somber turn when Trixie and Geoffrey find Mr Fischer in distress and discover he is terminally ill. Elsewhere, Rosalind and Joyce throw a festive gathering while Sister Catherine investigates the disappearance of Queenie’s baby.

The Christmas storylines bounce between snowy East London and sunny Hong Kong, with Sister Julienne and Sister Hilda facing off against gangsters and Dr Turner working to help a sick child in the Walled City.

The Nonnatus team splits to tackle challenges at home and abroad, offering a blend of classic family warmth and international adventure.

Looking ahead, the world of Call The Midwife is growing even bigger.

The BBC has announced a prequel set in Poplar during World War Two, coming in 2026. Plus, a Call The Midwife feature film, set in 1972 and starring fan-favorite characters, is also in the works.

Season 15, arriving in the New Year, picks up in 1971 with major social shifts – from bra-burning Women’s Lib protests to medical struggles including premature births and kidney cancer.

Returning cast for the new season includes Judy Parfitt, Jenny Agutter, Laura Main, Helen George, Cliff Parisi and Stephen McGann.

Call The Midwife airs on BBC One and iPLayer in the UK and PBS in the United States.
