An all star cast has been announced for new supernatural British sitcom The Reluctant Vampire, starring BAFTA winner Lenny Rush.

The six-part series is based on the books by comedy legend Eric Morecambe and written by Rob and Neil Gibbons (Alan Partridge).

Joining Rush are some of the biggest names in UK comedy, including Tom Davis, Sian Clifford, Charlie Cooper, Asim Chaudhry, Joe Wilkinson, Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Esther Smith, Bill Bailey, Ray Fearon, Ellie May Sheridan, Gabriel Nagy and Ross Noble.

Set in a quiet English village overshadowed by a looming vampire castle, the show follows Val (Rush), a young vampire struggling to live up to his family’s spooky traditions.

Things take a shocking turn when he discovers he isn’t actually a vampire at all, a secret his mother (Clifford) has been keeping from the family.

As Val explores his newly discovered human side with the help of village girl Gertie (Ellie May Sheridan), he must juggle his double life-keeping his identity hidden from both the townsfolk and his demanding vampire dad Victor (Davis).

Described as a comedy about finding your place between two worlds, The Reluctant Vampire is being produced by Boffola Pictures for BBC One and iPlayer in the UK. International release details are still to come.
