A first look at the new Death in Paradise Christmas Special is here, and the episode brings a mix of sun, mystery and holiday trouble.
This year’s special adds a strong list of guest stars, with Josie Lawrence, Kate Ashfield, Pearl Mackie, James Baxter, Billy Harris, Oriana Charles and Alix Serman joining the main cast.
They appear beside Don Gilet, Shantol Jackson, Ginny Holder, Shaquille Ali Yebuah and Elizabeth Bourgine as the story moves between Saint Marie and Swindon.
The plot starts when four co workers wake up after their office holiday party to find a stranger dead in the pool of their villa in the Caribbean.
The team finds the murder weapon fast, but the case takes a strange turn when they learn the item was locked in a drawer far away in Swindon at the time of the crime.
With travel trouble keeping the team on Saint Marie, they reach out to a familiar face for help as the clues grow harder to follow.
At the same time, Mervin waits for a message from his brother, a new part of his life he is still trying to understand.
The delay keeps him from enjoying the island’s Christmas events, and the team hopes he can find some peace before the holiday ends.
The Death in Paradise Christmas Special airs this December on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK. It’s expected to be made available on BritBox internationally.
