Netflix has officially renewed Dept. Q for a second season after the crime series became a breakout success worldwide.
Based on Jussi Adler-Olsen’s bestselling novels, the first season spent six weeks in Netflix’s Global Top Ten and was praised for its gripping twists, Edinburgh setting and sharp storytelling.
Matthew Goode will reprise his role as the troubled but brilliant DCI Carl Morck, leading his unlikely team of investigators: Alexej Manvelov as Akram, Leah Byrne as Rose, and Jamie Sives as Hardy.
Season 2 will once again be set and filmed in Edinburgh, with the dark and atmospheric backdrop playing a central role in the series’ storytelling.
The creative team is also returning, with writer-director Scott Frank once again at the helm.
Frank said: “I’m grateful to the folks at Netflix, as well as our shining cast and crew, for once more risking their careers to enable my folly.”
Matthew Goode added: “I’d like to thank Netflix for giving us the opportunity to further investigate Department Q’s storylines.
“We have a wonderful cast and crew, headed by our resident genius Scott Frank. I cannot wait to read what comes from his magic quill!”
Season one is streaming on Netflix now.
