It’s been nearly 20 years since Footballers’ Wives bowed out, but the scandal-soaked British drama could be gearing up for a sensational comeback.

Several key cast members are in talks to reboot the cult classic, with eyes on a 2026 release.

While it may return to television, streaming platforms are reportedly showing serious interest.

Gary Lucy, who played footballer Kyle Pascoe, confirmed he’s involved in the project – but not in his old boots.

“We’re trying to bring it back but it might be in a slightly different format,” Gary shared with The Sun. “I won’t be a footballer in it, I’m too old for that. But in some capacity, yes I’ll be in it, definitely.”

The show originally ran from 2002 to 2006, delivering five series of champagne-fuelled drama, jaw-dropping plot twists and headline-grabbing moments.

It gained a loyal following for its no-holds-barred take on the glamorous – and often chaotic – lives of fictional footballers and their partners.

“I think it would go down a storm to be honest,” Gary added earlier this year. “It was just escapism. You’d just watch it and forget about all the nonsense that’s going on in real life.”

The series, which enjoyed a second wind after landing on ITVX, starred the likes of Zoe Lucker, Susie Amy, Gillian Taylforth and Cristian Solimeno.

No official confirmation has come from ITV, but with nostalgia-heavy reboots still trending and the original cast keen to get back into the mix, Footballers’ Wives could soon be bringing the drama once again.
