Channel 5 announced brand new suspense series Number One Fan, a four-part thriller from Clapperboard.

Set in the high-stakes world of daytime television, Number One Fan promises to grip viewers with its tale of obsession, secrets and ambition.

Jill Halfpenny, known for her roles in The Cuckoo, The Feud and The Long Shadow, steps into the spotlight as Lucy – a beloved morning show host with a sharp career edge and a complicated past.

Sally Lindsay, who viewers may recognize from The Madame Blanc Mysteries and Love Rat, co-stars as Donna, a seemingly unassuming fan who rescues Lucy from an attack – only for her admiration to spiral into something much darker.

Lucy’s life starts to unravel as Donna infiltrates her career and personal life, revealing a dangerous link to Lucy’s past that could threaten her carefully constructed success.

Behind the camera, Rachel Kilfeather leads the writing alongside Marcus Fleming while direction comes from Emmy-winning Paul Wilmshurst.

Production is already complete, with filming having wrapped in Spain.

Number One Fan is slated to arrive on Channel 5 in 2026 and is expected to appeal to fans of psychological thrillers and British drama worldwide.

Clapperboard’s Mike Benson said of the casting: “We’ve obviously worked numerous times with two of the most talented actresses in the country in Sally and Jill – but never before in the same show. Seeing them both together on screen – and in two very surprising roles – is something I know viewers will be every bit as excited about as we are.”
