ITV has officially commissioned The Party, a five-part psychological drama based on Elizabeth Day’s acclaimed novel, starring Luke Evans and written by Sarah Solemani.
Produced by World Productions (Line of Duty, Vigil) alongside Evans’ own Stoic Productions and ITV Studios, the series promises a gripping look at friendship privilege, and the secrets that bind us.
Evans stars as Martin Gilmour, a journalist whose life has been shaped by his powerful bond with politician Ben Fitzmaurice, played by Tom Cullen.

Raised by a single mother, Martin earns a scholarship to an elite boarding school, where he first meets Ben and becomes drawn into the glamorous world of the Fitzmaurice family.
Decades later, when Martin attends Ben’s extravagant birthday party, political ambitions, old loyaltie, and buried truths collide with devastating consequences.
The cast includes BAFTA winner Joanna Scanlan, Lydia Leonard, Lindsay Duncan, Douglas Hodge, and Solemani herself, who also stars as Martin’s wife.
The series will be directed by Viviane Andereggen (Kleo) and produced by Richard Burrell (All Creatures Great and Small).
Luke Evans said: “From the moment I read Elizabeth Day’s novel, I knew it had the makings of something truly special for television. To now be bringing The Party to life – both as an actor and as an executive producer through Stoic Productions – is incredibly rewarding.
“Sarah Solemani’s adaptation captures the emotional depth and tension of the story perfectly, and to collaborate once again with World Productions and ITV, alongside such an extraordinary cast, is a real privilege.”
Filming began in Wales in October 2025.
The Party will air on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK, and is set for global distribution through ITV Studios.
