Fans of British drama can look forward to a brand-new twisty tale as 5 has commissioned Forever Home, a six-part series based on Graham Norton’s acclaimed novel.

This television adaptation brings together a notable cast, including Amy Nuttall, Douglas Henshall, Denise Welch, Kevin Whately, Samantha Bond, Lewis Cope, Jenny Walser, Shane Zaza and James Baxter.

Forever Home, set to air in 2026, follows the unsettling story of Carol – a second wife who makes a chilling discovery in her new family’s basement.

What was once assumed to be an old heartbreak starts to unravel into something much darker, with family secrets coming back to haunt.

Graham expressed his enthusiasm about the project, noting his inspiration stemmed from the “simple idea of packing up a home later in life, and the ‘what if’ scenarios and complexities that come with later-life relationships.”

He described the story as a “funny, twisted, dark-romp full of farcical scenes,” excited to see Carol’s journey come to life on screen.

Helming the script for the series is Clara Salaman, joined by directors Paul Gay and Claire Winyard. The series is co-produced by FilmNation Entertainment and The Mediapro Studio, supported by the North East Production Fund and North East Screen.

Paul Testar, Commissioning Editor, 5 commented: “We’re delighted to partner with FilmNation and The Mediapro Studio to bring Graham Norton’s compelling novel to UK screens, supported by an outstanding cast.

“Working with North East Screen again to champion local filming has been a pleasure, and we can’t wait for viewers to immerse themselves in Forever Home.”

Filming will take place in scenic Northumberland.
