Channel 4 has released the first trailer and images for Summerwater, a gripping new Scottish drama.
Starring Dougray Scott (Crime, My Week with Marilyn), Shirley Henderson (Harry Potter, Bridget Jones) and Valene Kane (Blue Lights, Gangs of London), the six-part series is set on the shores of a remote Scottish loch, where a group of holidaymakers find their lives quietly colliding over the course of one fateful day.
Adapted from Sarah Moss’s acclaimed novel, Summerwater explores the hidden tensions, fleeting connections and private fears that bubble beneath the surface of everyday life.

As rain pours endlessly over the cabin park, secrets emerge and resentments build all leading to a devastating and unforgettable climax.
The series was adapted by screenwriter John Donnelly (The Pass, Utopia) and directed by Robert McKillop (Guilt) and Fiona Walton (Shetland).
Donnelly said: “Sarah Moss writes with perception, compassion and wit about sex, love, and the dark impulses of the human heart. She is one of our most brilliant chroniclers of modern life. In Summerwater, Sarah has found the perfect environment to explore our secrets and desires – a rain-drenched holiday park in Scotland…
“Summerwater is at once an atmospheric mystery, a hilarious and heartbreaking exploration of identity and an existential thriller. I am delighted to be working with the brilliant team at Freedom Scripted to adapt Sarah’s wonderful novel for a broadcaster with such a pedigree for bold, ambitious drama.”
The series premieres in the UK on Sunday, 16th November at 9PM on Channel 4, with global release details to follow soon.
