Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators is officially returning for a sixth season, with production now underway in Stratford-upon-Avon.
The beloved British cosy crime drama has built a loyal international following thanks to its mix of light-hearted mystery, quirky humor and charming English setting.
Now it’s back with fresh episodes set to air in 2026.

The new season will premiere first on UKTV’s U&alibi channel in the UK, followed by a wider rollout on the BBC and streaming on BBC iPlayer.
For international fans, the series is expected to continue its release on BritBox, where it’s become a hidden gem for viewers who enjoy classic whodunnits with a comedic twist.
Mark Benton and Jo Joyner return as private investigators Frank Hathaway and Lu Shakespeare – a former cop and ex-hairdresser who’ve made a name for themselves solving crimes in the scenic streets of Stratford.
But with series regular Sebastian Brudenell off to pursue acting dreams in LA, a new face joins the team.
Aruhan Galieva steps in as Bea Gardiner, shaking up the detective duo’s world.
Jo Joyner said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be back with Mark in beautiful Warwickshire filming the sixth series, I’m looking forward to Lu muddling her way through more mysteries – playing Luella is like slipping into a comfy pair of very bright, fluffy pink slippers!”
Mark Benton says: “When I heard we were given the green light for series six, I was thrilled. The show is very special to us. My partnership with Jo, the most wonderful crew and a script full of warmth, comedy and mystery. What a joy!”
All past seasons are streaming now in the UK on U and BBC iPlayer, and BritBox internationally.
