Sherwood, the acclaimed British crime drama set in a tight-knit Nottinghamshire mining town, is gearing up for its third season – and it’s bringing in a host of new faces alongside some familiar ones.

Filming is officially underway on the award-winning series, which streams on BBC iPlayer and airs on BBC One in the UK.

James Graham returns as the mastermind behind Sherwood, continuing to blend gripping local drama with themes that strike a chord worldwide.

This season, Rosalie Craig, Joe Dempsie, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Sue Johnston, and Peter Wight are joining the ensemble.

They’ll appear alongside returning stars Lorraine Ashbourne, Lindsay Duncan, Robert Glenister, Robert Lindsay, Lesley Manville, David Morrissey, and Claire Rushbrook. Ben Batt and Adam Long join as well.

The story picks up six months after last season’s explosive Branson and Sparrow family feud.

As Ashfield tries to move forward, Sherwood shifts focus to the Wood family, who seemingly embody everything good about their community.

Zoe Wood, played by Rosalie, stands out as a proactive local campaigner, while her husband Alex, played by Joe, is busy overseeing a new Gotham housing estate built on the edge of Sherwood Forest.

Sue and Peter play Zoe’s parents, Irene and Eric Bostall, the first residents of this new development. But no one stays out of trouble for long in Sherwood.

Kirby joins the cast as DI Zara Gill, who’s investigating a number of human remains discovered after last season’s tragic events. The plot thickens when a decades-old mystery – the disappearance of Arthur Bostall – resurfaces, leading the Woods and Bostalls on a journey through family secrets and unresolved town rivalries.

James Graham shares: “The joy of Sherwood for me is introducing brand new characters with exciting original stories each and every series, sitting alongside existing characters and actors I’ve grown to love.”

Keep your eyes peeled for updates as Sherwood Season 3 shapes up for another must-watch run.
