Sky has confirmed an eight-episode drama series based on Stieg Larsson’s bestseller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

This fresh take on the Millennium novels will be crafted by Steve Lightfoot, known for The Punisher and Spider-Noir, and Angela LaManna, celebrated for The Haunting Of Bly Manor.

Described as a bold, contemporary reimagining, this series promises to bring the heart of Larsson’s unforgettable story into today’s world, with resonant themes and familiar investigative twists.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo will be produced by Left Bank Pictures, the team behind The Crown, and filming is set to kick off in Lithuania in Spring 2026.

The series aims to stay true to the characters and suspenseful style that made the Millennium books a global phenomenon, with over 100 million copies sold.

Sky will premiere the show across the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, making it easy for European fans to tune in.

Sony Pictures Television is handling international distribution, with early sales ongoing in the United States.

This marks a return to Larsson’s world for Sony, who previously adapted the novels into movies, including David Fincher’s acclaimed 2011 film starring Rooney Mara and 2018’s The Girl in the Spider’s Web.

Expect more casting news and details as production draws closer.
