A first look has been released from The War Between the Land and the Sea, the upcoming five-part new British drama.
The series will land on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK this December and stream on Disney+ internationally in 2026.
Created by Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies, the show explores what happens when a terrifying ancient species rises from the ocean and makes first contact with the world, triggering a global crisis.

Set against a backdrop of growing panic and political chaos, it follows how humanity reacts to this sudden threat from the deep.
From fierce battles to unexpected alliances, the story blends large-scale action with emotional character moments.
The series stars Russell Tovey as Barclay, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Salt, Jemma Redgrave as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart and Ruth Madeley as Shirley Ann Bingham.
They’re joined on the cast by Alexander Devrient, Colin McFarlane, Adrian Lukis and Ann Akinjirin.
Russell T Davies, Showrunner, Writer and Executive Producer said: “This is a huge, spectacular Christmas treat, with heroes and monsters and battles and romance, in a world on the edge of disaster. And remember. Watch the seas!”
The series release follows news of Doctor Who’s future being confirmed.
